by Braggi Bamberger
Well this is my beloved Rampant right after I build it, I had a Pyre before I'd race it XC, super D and some easy dirt jumps, got blown by the versatility of the Pyre, loved the Pyre but I decided to go with the Rampant and see how it performs.Specs on Rampant as now:

so the review, I have a Black Market Mob, that I've been using it for dirtjumping before that I got the Rampant, my poor Mob, haven't seen the dirt jumps since I built the Rampant, the Rampant is amazing, been riding the local spots and the handling on the air is really nice, well balanced, once in the air it goes by itself so you can do some tricks, I overshoot a few jumps when I started riding this bike, is very fast, in the berms the low bb and the stiffness of the frame keep you under control and shoots you out of the berms with a lot more speed, you can pedal after and you will have enormous amounts of speed; that's in the dirt jumps.

let see in the Freeride/slopestyle side.
I thought the bike will be hard because of the shot travel, when I'll use it on the freeride features, been hitting big drops, cased a couple of times, and the frame/suspension, helped me a lot, when I cased a gap jump off a drop, the bike felt solid, I used almost all the travel, I was afraid of destroying the XTR crnaks that time, but they hold up good but got me a bit worried so I changed them for the Racefe AtlasFR just to ad more confidence when I go big, so the biggest jumps I have done so far are around 20 to 25 feet drops to transitions, then big gap jumps at high speed, everything got handled really nice, the bike gave me the confidence to go bigger, so I'm building bigger features 35 to 40 feet gaps are my goals for this year, I know the bike can handle them and bigger jumps, it did help me a lot progressing in my riding.

now the XC/AM side of the Rampant.
XC Trails around here are flowy so not really hard but they get technical; haven't had the chance to do big mountain rides, or really long climbs; but so far in our local XC trails, I have been able to go in the pack with the fast riders, berms, and descends are the favorite of the rampant, the uphills are a bit hard but since the VP4 design make the bike feel like a hardtail when you pedal up, I've been able to stay with my friends on their lightweight XC bikes, my rampant weights around 30 pounds, the VP4 suspension helps me to not waste energy on the uphills.

DH Test
I haven't ridden the Rampant on a real DH trail yet, but I'll take it to Snowshoe Mtn in WV, and take it in the Dh trails, I'll write about how it'd go.
[EDIT]
So I took the Rampant and the Legend up to Snowshoe Mtn. in WV, here my thoughts on the Rampant.

before the ride I switched the tires for Michelin's DH16 and a DH24.
Did a couple of runs down the Mtn, descents really good not as fast as my buddy's on their Full on DH bikes, but I was behind them most of the times, did the Western territory, which is the side of the Mountain with the longest trails.
Starting at "10 gallon" connect to "proDH" for a bit, then did the "cross Over" to "ninja Bob", to "missing Link" and "Powerline", besides "pro Dh" this trails are from Easier to Difficult, "Pro DH" is most difficult but I just did a small part of it, mainly this trails have a lot of berms and jumps, and some small rock gardens, they are really fast and flowy. the bike handled really good even being a short travel bike it managed the rock gardens and rooty sections really well, it was my first time doing DH with it so I took it easy, jumped really good at high speeds and handled the berms awesomely.

a couple observations.
-I did do felt a couple times at high speed the rear end bouncing me over, I was probably hitting to hard on rocks, I can see why it was happening maybe because the bike only have 4 inch of travel, never lost control.
-Also noticed that my hands got tired lot quicker than when I rode the Legend, less travel means more beating on your body for sure.
other than those two observations, the bike handled everything, way better than what I expected, after a couple of runs, I switched to the Legend and that is another history...

In Conclusion:
I love the attention to detail on the frame, how it has been build, everything was faced, ready for me to install parts, the clearcoat on the raw frame is nice, I love how the bike looks, and rides, best short travel bike I ever had, feels lot better and pedals lot better than many other bikes I had, the handling, the strength and the people behind Banshee makes this bike so amazing.

Nice write-up. Your rampant is real nice, but there is no way it can weigh 38lbs. It's a sturdy build for sure but 38 just seems kinda high.

Wow I am impressed! I don't doubt you at all, it just seems like none of the parts are rediculously heavy.
